Evelyn R. Dexter, 91, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in Brookings, SD. She was born February 2, 1924 at Elkton, SD to Harry and Elda (Bergman) Anderson. Evelyn received her education in Elkton and married Eldon Dexter on August 18, 1941 in Pipestone, MN. They lived in Elkton and farmed for several years in the Flandreau and Elkton area. Evelyn had several different jobs in her life and then worked at 3M in Brookings for 15 years, retiring when she was 65. Her husband preceded her in death April 6, 1977. Evelyn enjoyed her home and working in the yard with her flowers. She had a ceramic shop for years. In her life, she had many pet dogs that she really enjoyed. When the family was younger, Evelyn put a lot of effort in to Christmas for the kids. She liked small kids and babies and adopted three children, Lori, Dawn, and Craig who gave her pleasure. She continued to live in Elkton until she became a resident at The Neighborhoods at Brookview in August 2012. Evelyn was a former member of Elkton Methodist Church.

Evelyn is survived by five children, Dean Dexter, Elkton, Jean Dexter, Brookings, Lori (Brad) Jacobsen, Coon Rapids, MN, Dawn (Doug) Jackson, Forest Lake, MN, Craig (Patty) Dexter, Brookings, daughter-in-law Donna Dexter, Sioux Falls, two brothers, Jerry (Sandy) Anderson, Elkton, Daune (Diane) Anderson, Aurora, SD, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Judy Dexter, son Larry Dexter, parents, and four brothers, Earl, Harold, Donald and Marlen Anderson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, May 1, 2015 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton, with burial in the Elkton City Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7 pm Thursday at the funeral chapel.
