Evelyn E. Bothern, 84, died Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at the Riverview Manor in Flandreau. Evelyn was born on February 15, 1925 at White, SD to Charles and Lottie (Clark) Svec. As a young girl, they moved to Brookings where she graduated from Brookings High School in 1941. Evelyn married Delbert Bothern on July 14, 1949 at Colman, SD. They farmed north of Colman until 1953 when they moved to a farm southwest of Flandreau. Evelyn worked at the Flandreau Creamery, Locker plant, Egg plant, Flandreau Bakery, cafes and for several years was a Senior Companion. Delbert preceded her in death on February 6, 2003. Evelyn was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran church, Flandreau, Flandreau VFW Auxiliary and a former member of Midway Lutheran Church.

Evelyn is survived by four grandchildren, Kimberly (Jeff) Miller, David (Jessica) Angell, Chad (Lisa) Bothern, Derek (Heather) Bothern; 6 great-grandchildren: Rachel, Jesse, Trace, Ashley, Jordan, Emma; son-in-law, Lee Angell; sister, Fern Trenholm and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Del; son, Delbert Charles Bothern; daughter, Loretta Kay Angell; parents; brother, Shirley Arthur Svec.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 2:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau with burial at Midway Lutheran Cemetery, rural Colman. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel on Friday.
