Erwin D. Anderson, 82, of Sioux Falls, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. He was born January 4, 1934 at Colman, SD to Clarence W. and Alvina (Hell) Anderson. He graduated from Colman High School in 1952 and then entered the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. Then he attended SDSU for agriculture business and then Lutheran Seminary School in Chicago. Erwin married Marcia Pederson on June 2, 1961 at Edgerton, WI, and they moved to Liberia, West Africa, where their children were born. They returned after seven years to Albuquerque, NM. Then they moved to Milbank, SD, where Erwin worked for the extension service. In the 1970's he was the ag teacher at Canton High School. Then he worked for the Vermillion Extension Service in the '80's before moving to Ponca City, OK, where he was a farm management agent for Pioneer Vo-Tech. After Erwin retired they moved to Sioux Falls in 2001. Erwin enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, gardening, genealogy research, camping, hiking, antiquing, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Erwin is survived by his wife Marcia, son Michael (Connie) Anderson, Sequim, WA; daughter Julie (Paul) Anderson-Malanga, Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Eric, Lauren and Gianna. Erwin was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Vernon, Harold and Arlan.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Colman Cemetery, Colman, SD.
