Obituary

Emil Steinhauer, 88, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Riverview Health Services, Flandreau, SD. He was born January 22, 1925 in Turner County, SD to John and Elisa Steinhauer. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Marion, SD. He received his education in country school and graduated from Marion High School in 1944. Emil married Norma Mae Jessen on January 11, 1949 in Pipestone, MN. He worked as a mason in Pipestone, MN and then at the Egan Grain Elevator for 27 years. His wife preceded him in death on November 5, 2009. Emil was a former member of the Egan Fire Department, member of Egan Sportsman's Club and NRA instructor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Emil is survived by three sons, John (Jennifer), Egan, Robert (Gayle), Farmington, MN, Tom (Amy), Egan, two grandsons, Brian and Dallas, two granddaughters, Amy and Harley, two sisters, Johana Kraemer, Parker, SD, Olga Krekula, New York Mills, MN and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, parents, three brothers, Theodor, Paul and Bernard and three sisters, Sara, Ida and Olinda.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 27, 2013, 10:30 am at Egan United Methodist Church with burial in Hillside Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with a 7:00 pm prayer service.
