Emery F. Johnson, 63, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the Violet Tshetter Memorial Home, Huron. He was born August 17, 1946 in Madison, SD to Fred C. and Marjorie (Ronk) Johnson. He attended school in Flandreau and Trent graduating in 1964 from Trent High School. He entered the US Navy on October 18, 1965 and served until October 18, 1971. On May 27, 1967 he married Patricia Smith in Flandreau. They farmed at Flandreau after his discharge from the Navy and then moved to Lake Benton, MN in February 1974. He started driving truck in February 1978 for MCT in Sioux Falls, SD and then for Moberg Transport in Marshall, MN. In February 1987 they moved to Cavour, SD where he drove for Parkhurst Trucking and then for Stans Inc. in Alpena, SD until ill health forced his retirement. Emery began living at Violet Tschetter Memorial Home in May 2007 where he resided until his death. Outside of trucking, he enjoyed raising pigs, hunting and spending time with family.

Emery is survived by 3 sons, James, Sioux Falls, Jerry (Sandi), Huron, Joe (Mary), Wolsey and 1 daughter, Anna (Jeremy) McDermaid, Huron; 7 grandsons and 2 granddaughters; 2 brothers, Warren (Eileen), Spearfish and Tim (Denise), Flandreau and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Emmett in 1948 and David in 2009.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
