Elsie M. Ellefson, 102, died Sunday at Sanford Medical Center, Sioux Falls.
Elsie was born March 4, 1906 on a farm near Flandreau to John and Mabel (Houser) Lee. She attended Flandreau High School and married Willis Ellefson on March 14, 1929 in Sioux Falls. They farmed near Flandreau and moved into Flandreau in 1935. Her husband preceded her in death on December 18, 1996 and Elsie moved to the Inn on Westport in Sioux Falls in August of 1997. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and WELCA. Elsie was a great cook and she loved to play cards and take her grandkids fishing. Elsie is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Glenda), Mitchell and Darwin, Morganton, NC; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis, daughter-in-law, Diane, 2 brothers, Howard and Charlie and 3 sisters, Rena, Nina, and Helen.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation begins at 4:00 pm Wednesday with the family present from 5 – 7 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
