Obituary

Eleanor S. Kuehl, 96, passed away Friday, February 20, 2015 in Billings, MT. Eleanor was born April 10, 1918 in Lennox, SD to Martin and Gyda (Carlson) Lee. She received her education in Lennox until moving to the Flandreau area in 1934, graduating in 1937 from Flandreau High School. Eleanor married Francis Kuehl on June 21, 1939 at her home in Union Township. She was a very determined and hard worker on the farm. Eleanor worked next to her husband milking cows morning and night and always was done before him. She was a caregiver to Francis on the farm from June 1984 until his death on January 24, 1989. She left the farm and moved into town in 1991. Eleanor loved to sew, making wedding dresses, prom dresses, alterations, and won 1st place in a sewing contest. She was a long time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and 4-H. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends, especially keeping in close contacts with all her nieces and nephews.

Eleanor is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Kuehl, Billings, MT, sister, Geneva Ekern, Flandreau, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis, two sons, Lonnie and Francis, one infant son, one infant daughter, parents, three brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Lorraine and one sister Elvera.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday with a 7:00 pm Prayer Service at the Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
