Eldred E. "Chicko" Scholes, 62, of Sioux Falls died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Eldred "Chicko" Scholes was born August 10, 1949 to Eldred "El" and Bonnie Jeanne (Gould) Scholes. Chicko graduated from Brookfield Central High School in 1967. Following graduation he worked for his dad at Donutland in Monona and Madison, WI. He was drafted on June 25, 1969 into the US Army where he served in Japan for 19 months. Chicko was honorably discharged on June 18, 1971. He returned home and continued working for his dad and this is where he met Vicki Hahn. Chicko married Vicki on February 11, 1972 in Madison, WI. He bought Donutland from his dad in 1972 and later changed the name to Chicko's Donut Shop which he owned until 1981. During this time he also owned Chicko's Gun Shop where he sold custom guns. They moved to Sioux Falls in 1981 where he drove truck until 1987. Chicko was a baker for Hy-Vee from 1988 – 1993. He moved to Sheldon, IA where he continued his baking career until returning to Sioux Falls in 1999 and went to work again for Hy-Vee until he retired in October of 2011. Chicko will be remembered for his family time of hunting, fishing and camping, fast cars including his Jaguar, his love of music and painting.

Chicko is survived by his mother, Bonnie Jeanne Scholes, Brodhead, WI; 4 children, Alice (Chris) Wilson, Anne (Jason) Kunze, Angela (Mike) Goldammer, Adam (Miranda) Scholes all of Sioux Falls; 11 grandchildren, Jackson, Allison, Carson, Samantha, Madison, Ella, Gracison, Mason, Emmerson, Alivia and Avary and 2 brothers, David Scholes, George (Sue) Scholes all of Madison, WI. Chicko is preceded in death by his father, Eldred "El" Samuel Scholes and a sister, Eldra Jeanne Scholes.

Memorial services will be held Friday, June 15, 2012 at 6:30 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls with burial at Moundville Cemetery, Endeavor, WI at a later date. Visitation will be held Friday starting at 5:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.
