Obituary

Eileen Johanna Ingeborg Neprud went to sleep in Jesus Christ on October 1, 2015 at Riverview Healthcare Community. Eileen was the daughter of Ole and Hilda (Johnson) Aaker and was born November 28, 1921 in Moody County, SD. She attended Thompson rural school and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1939. She always knew what she wanted to do with her life. From childhood, she dedicated herself to education, always playing the part of the teacher. She received her BS degree from Dakota State College and then completed additional work at Augustana College and eventually graduated from the University of South Dakota. She earned her master's degree while continuing her teaching career. Before her retirement in 1985, Eileen had completed 44 consecutive years of teaching in rural schools, Trent and the Flandreau School system. On December 23, 1941, Eileen was united in marriage to Clarence Neprud. They farmed outside of Colman before moving and farming in Alliance Township in Moody County. They eventually retired in Flandreau. Her husband passed away in Arizona on February 12, 1997, where they had wintered several years. Eileen had a diversity of interests, including Bible study, crossword puzzles, gardening, travel and her weekly bridge games, which continued until just a few short weeks ago. She was deeply grateful to her dear bridge friends and partners, who were so kind to her the last few years. We would like also to extend thanks to her second cousin and farming partner of many years, Dennis and Susan DeClerk and family, as well as Enella Sylva, Renee Thomas and Joyce Nelson for their loving attention and visitations these last few years. Eileen was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church and WELCA. She had been a Sunday school teacher, supervisor, league advisor, and member of several clubs, including a bridge club, pinochle club and the Flandreau Golf Club for many years.

Those left to cherish her memory are nieces, Kathleen Marie Youel and Susan Swenson, great-nieces and nephews, Jeffrey Youel, Jennifer Wright, Brigitte Bennett, Brittany, Brent and Bradley Swenson, and great-great-niece and nephew, Alexandra Youel and Kyler Steven Bennett. In addition there are many extended relatives, neighbors, friends, caregivers at Riverview and Compassionate Care Hospice Services. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Ona Marie Swenson and her nephew Steven Kenneth Swenson.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation prior to the service.
