Duane E. "Bud" Carr, 96, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Riverview Healthcare Center, Flandreau. Duane was born July 24, 1924 at Flandreau, SD to Everett and Anna (Schmidt) Carr. He attended school through the eighth grade at Stagelman Country School in rural Flandreau. Duane then attended Flandreau High School and graduated in 1942. He attended SDSU for a short time before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in December 1943. Duane was honorably discharged in May 1946 and then went into farming which he continued to do until 2005. On March 10, 1951 Duane was united in marriage to Alma Sorum at First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Flandreau serving on several boards and ushering, a member of the Masonic Lodge for 50 years, Flandreau American Legion and VFW, and El Riad Shrine in Sioux Falls. His wife preceded him in death on October 9, 2003. Duane became a resident at Greenleaf Assisted Living in 2012 and Riverview Manor in 2013.

Duane is survived by two sons, Jerry (LeAnn), Flandreau; Tim (Barb), Fergus Falls, MN; one daughter Deborah (Frank) Garcia, Redlands, CA; nine grandchildren, Kate, Jacob, Brandon, Angela, Jenna, Garrett, Jared, Austin and Kevin; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Rowan. Duane was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Alma; parents and two sisters, LaVonne and his twin sister Elaine.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Wednesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
