Dorothy (Richter) Pomper, 70, of Sioux Falls formerly of Chicago, IL, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Covington Heights Nursing Home, Sioux Falls. Dorothy was born February 2, 1941 in Madison, SD to William A. and Elaine A. (Bidwell) Richter. She grew up north of Colman, SD on the family farm. She was educated in Colman and furthered her education in Illinois. Dorothy was married to Michael Lovejoy and to this union two children were born. She pursued her career in insurance sales and real estate. Dorothy married Seymour Pomper in 1977. She relocated to South Dakota in 2006 and worked for Cigna Tel-Drug until ill health forced her to retire in 2009. Dorothy enjoyed horse racing, riding her horse, Ginger, painting, watching and reading politics and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Lisa Lovejoy, Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Michelle Sterkel, Ashley Hall, Josephine Gschwind and three great-grandchildren; three siblings, Charles (Jackie) Richter, Colman, Richard (Shirley) Richter, Crooks, Rita (Jan) Duchek, Eagan, MN. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Joy Lovejoy and her parents.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman with burial at Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman.
