Dorothy Ann McFarland, 96, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Avera Flandreau Hospital. Dorothy was born August 6, 1923 at Flandreau, SD to George and Selma (Bolte) Wienert and they lived on a farm north of Flandreau. Dorothy attended Dexter Country School for eight years and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1940. She married Victor McFarland on February 1, 1941 at Salinas, CA, where he was stationed with the 147 ^th Field Artillery. After his discharge in 1945, they moved to a home in Flandreau where Dorothy lived continuously for 74 years. Her husband preceded her in death on September 23, 1961. Dorothy started to work at the Flandreau Bakery a few months later and worked there for 48 years. She moved to Edgewood Vista in Flandreau in January 2019. Dorothy was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Vicki (Roger) Schmidt, Dell Rapids, SD; her son William (Lorri) McFarland, Flandreau; five grandchildren, Dan, Tammy, Casi, Staci, Billie Jo; 10 great-grandchildren, Tiffany, Tate, Carter, Trista, Trina, Tyler, Regan, Madison, Jackson, Everlie; and four great-great-grandchildren, Harper, Hunter, Eastin and Ava. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister Frances.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Second Presbyterian Church, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 – 5:00 pm Wednesday with a 5:00 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
