Dorothy M. Gust, 89, of Lincoln, NE formerly of Flandreau, SD passed peacefully on Sunday, May 1, 2016 with both of her children at her side. Dorothy left this earth in the same style she had lived her life – with grace and dignity. Dorothy Marie Davidson Gust was born to Virgil and Loretta (Crimmins) Davidson December 21, 1926. She attended Flandreau Public School graduating from Flandreau High School in 1944.  Dorothy then attended Presentation School of Nursing at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.  She received her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1947. Upon graduation, Dorothy returned to Flandreau where she worked at the Flandreau Hospital as a Surgical and Delivery Nurse.  In the course of this employment, Dorothy was caring for Marie Gust who thought that Dorothy should meet her son, Dale Gust.  Dorothy married Dale Gust February 28, 1949.  Dorothy was a homemaker and mother for several years prior to joining her husband in their business, Dale's Firestone, where she kept the books and tended to the front room of the Firestone Store.  Upon selling and retiring from their business, Dale and Dorothy continued to reside in Flandreau, SD. Dale preceded Dorothy on February 4, 2007. Dorothy moved to Lincoln, NE in 2013.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Craig (Brenda) Gust of Maple Grove, MN, Judith Bothern of Lincoln, NE; Five Grandchildren, Chad and Derek Bothern, Tiffany Gust Duque, Amber Gust and Ryan Gust;  Five Great Grandchildren, Jordan, Emma, and Ashley Bothern and Sienna and Emilio Duque; Four half siblings, Bill Davidson, Charlene Venenga, Mary Jane Swayze, and Mike Davidson. Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Gust, and infant sister, Margaret Davidson, her mother Loretta Davidson, Father Virgil Davidson and son-in-law Charles Bothern.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 6:00 p.m. Thursday with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.
