Doretta "Dort" Fox, 85, formerly of Flandreau, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Prairie Senior Cottage in Hutchinson, MN. Dort was born February 10, 1930 at Flandreau, SD to John and Bertha (Drewes) Bothern. She attended Smyth Country School and Egan High School. Dort married Donald Fox in Moody County on September 10, 1948. They farmed in the Colman and Flandreau area until 1968 when they moved to Madison. Dort enjoyed working as a housekeeper for many years in hospitals, clinics, motels, churches, and many homes. Dort and Don moved from Madison to Sioux Falls in 2009 for a short while and then to Hutchinson in 2010 to be closer to family. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Madison. Dort enjoyed walking, gardening, reading, dancing, and traveling. Being a Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandmas was most important in her life. She enjoyed good health up until 2010 right after her 80th birthday.

Dort is survived by her husband, Donald Fox, Hutchinson, MN, daughter, Linda (Roger) Asmussen, Hutchinson, MN, son, Gordon (Penny) Fox, Sioux Falls, two grandchildren, Jennifer (Bruce) Leonhardt, Jeremy (Kim) Asmussen, three great-grandchildren, Riley, Logan, Landon, sisters-in-law, Eleanor McMahon, Margaret Fox, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her infant daughter, Dianne Lee Fox, parents, John and Bertha Bothern, mother-in-law, Elizabeth Hanson, siblings, Hilda Storer, Walter Bothern, Violet Mueller, Wilma Peper, Elva Mae Hansen, Lloyd Bothern, Ralph (Bud) Bothern, in-laws, Alvie Storer, Grace Drewes, Elmer Mueller, Emil Peper, Johnny Hansen, Virginia Bothern, Harold Fox, Ronald Fox, Molly Fox, Tom McMahon, nephews, Dean Peper, Kenny Hansen, and Larry Hansen.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, February 23, 2015 at United Methodist Church, Madison, with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be 2:00 – 5:00 pm Sunday with a 4:00 pm Prayer Service at the Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau and again at 9:00 am Monday at United Methodist Church, Madison.
