Dorene Kay Relf, age 73, of Pipestone, MN, formerly of Flandreau, SD, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, in Pipestone. Dorene was born on February 1, 1947 to Lyle W. and Virginia R. (Johnson) Clark. She grew up in Arlington, SD and was baptized and confirmed in the Methodist Church in Arlington. After her high school graduation, Dorene enrolled in beauty college. She was then married to Daniel Hahn, the father of her two sons, Chad and Kyle. Together they lived in the Brookings and Madison areas. Dorene worked as a cook for many years both at a daycare center and the Senior Citizen's Center in Brookings. Dorene met Larry Relf when he moved to Nunda, SD and the two were married in Arlington on April 4, 1981. They moved to Flandreau in 1982, later moving back to Brookings. Dorene has called Pipestone home for the last four years. Dorene attended church at Victory Christian Church in Balaton, MN. Dorene enjoyed being creative, whether it was crocheting, knitting, or drawing. She often gave away her creations. She will be remembered for her outgoing disposition and being a friend to everyone.
Dorene is survived by her special friend, Mickie Dumos of Dovray, MN; her sons, Chad Hahn of Anchorage, AK and Kyle Hahn of Pipestone; and her grandchildren, Jessalyn and Coleman. She is also survived by her sisters: Caren (Robert) Brown and Pamela Nelson, both of Sioux Falls, SD and her brother, Ronald (Paula) Clark of Rapid City, SD. Dorene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Larry Relf in 2006.
Family services will be held, Friday, August 7, 2020 at 7:00 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial in Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD.
