Doreen H. Danielson, 85, died Wednesday at Riverview Manor in Flandreau. Doreen was born May 24, 1923 at Airlie, MN to John and Mable (Steward) Thomas. Albert and Helen Schmidt helped to raise her. She graduated in 1940 from Iona High School in Minnesota. Then she moved to Flandreau, SD and worked as a waitress until her marriage to Dale Bothel on June 9, 1941 in Pipestone, MN. They moved to Rock Rapids, IA and were in the grocery business, then moved to Mitchell, SD and sold insurance. They moved to Sioux Falls and she worked for an employment agency and then she moved to Omaha and worked at Down's Bakery. Doreen married Loring (Mitch) Danielson on October 19, 1963 in Omaha. They lived in Memphis, TN before returning to Flandreau in 1981. She became a resident at Riverview Manor on September 11, 2006. Doreen was a member of the Flandreau United Methodist Church.
Doreen is survived by three children, Anita (Ed) Tilc, St. Francis, MN, Jerry (Janice) Bothel, Omaha, NE, James (Janet) Bothel, Brookings, daughter-in-law, Christina Bellot (Tim Bellot), Elkton, 32 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and special friend, Mary Clark. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loring (Mitch) Danielson; a son, Buddy (Mike Bothel); her parents; one sister, Helen, a brother Marvin and her first husband, Dale Bothel.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Flandreau with burial in Union Cemetery.
