Donald D. Schliinz, age 77, Flandreau, died Friday at the Flandreau Medical Ceneter ER. Donald was born to Harvey and Leola (Duncan) Schliinz on June 14, 1930 on a farm in Moody County. He received his education at Vance Country School and then started farming with Albert Duncan. Don was married on August 1, 1952 at Volga to Marlys Erickson. They farmed northeast of Flandreau until moving into Flandreau in December of 1993 but he continued helping on farms and raising his horses. He was a member of the Second Presbyterian Church, former church trustee, and member of the Flandreau Community Oil Board. Don loved his horses, hunting, snowmobiling, golfing, four wheeling and all outdoor activities. Don and Marlys have spent the last 20 years wintering in Donna, TX.


Don is survived by his wife, Marlys; four children: Donna (Russ) Knutson, Harrisburg, David (Deb) Flandreau, Greg (Sue) Brookings, and Jim (Janet) Aberdeen; 9 grandchildren: Emily(Brent) Bartels, Eric (Jaime) Knutson, Logan Schliinz, Angela (Wes) Johnson, Aubrey Schliinz, Clint Schliinz, Kurt Schliinz, Jacqueline Schliinz, and Julie Schliinz; five greatgrandchildren: Maxwell, Maleia, Landen, Hayden, and Lana; 5 siblings: Mildred (Tom) Carstensen, Pipestone, MN, Verone "Boots" (Gerald) Merrill, Pipestone; Janet (Hank) Jensen, Bella Vista, AR; Conway (Ruby) Schliinz, Baltic; and Karen (Charles) Oberle, Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Second Presbyterian Church with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation begins at 2:00 pm Monday with a 7:00 pm scripture service all at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
