Dolores M. Groos, 70, died Thursday at her home in Colman after a courageous 3 month battle with endocarditis. She was born March 27, 1937on a farm near Madison to Raymond and Lucille (Peters) Anderson. She started school in Wentworth and graduated from Rutland High School in 1955. She attended General Beadle in Madison and then taught school in Luverne. Dolores married Robert Groos on May 31, 1958 in Colman. She taught at Brookings Hillcrest Elementary for 44 years, retiring in 2006. They moved into Colman in January 1998. Dolores was a member of the Birthday Club, SDEA, and Brookings Education Association. She enjoyed her family, attending the grandchildren's activities, going to coffee, collecting antiques, gardening and her cats. She is survived by her husband, Bob; 2 daughters, Lana (Bill) Thompson and Dara (Pat) McKnight, both of Colman; 2 sons, Jay (Maria), Wentworth and Rex (Lona), Colman; 11 grandchildren, Deidra, Dax, Tyson, Taitt, Trey, Burgin, Bodee, Paityn, Baylee, Kade, and Berkley; 2 brothers, Roger (Nola) Anderson and Russell Anderson, both of Sioux Falls. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be 2 – 6 pm Sunday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman. A private family funeral will be held.
