Obituary

Dolores "Dee" Cranston, 82, of Brookings and formerly of Custer, SD, quietly passed away Thursday, September 14, 2017 at United Living Community in Brookings, SD surrounded by family. Dee was born to William and Ethyl (Stratton) Ayres on December 16, 1934 on the Albertson Place in Pleasant Valley, near Pringle, SD. She was the youngest of five siblings. She graduated from Custer High School in 1952. Dee was united in marriage to Gerald "Jack" Cranston on September 16, 1955 in Hill City, SD. Dee loved her flowers, gardening, reading, crafting, sewing and spending time with family and friends. She square danced many years with Jack and was Assistant Grand Poobah of the OogaBooga club.

Dee is survived by her son, William (Sarah Teeter) Cranston, Roseburg, OR; two daughters, Susan (Jose) Rosales, Peoria, AZ and Jaque (Joshua) Mann, Brookings, SD; two granddaughters, Jayme (Ben) Rosales-Speck, Boynton Beach, FL and Maria Rosales, Overland Park, KS; two great grandchildren, Miles Speck and baby girl Speck (due in January); one sister, Thelma Taylor, Wichita Falls, TX; one sister-in-law, Diane Kreimann, Rapid City, SD; and many nieces and nephews. Dee is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; two sisters, Bonnie Woodford and Elizabeth Binney, one brother, James Ayres; her parents, William and Ethyl and step-father, Earl; and many family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Pringle United Methodist Church, Pringle, SD on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., with lunch and fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be made in Dee's honor.
