Dolly Jorgensen, 87, died Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Riverview Manor. Dolly was born August 28, 1924 at Mitchell to John and Amy (McMahon) Mettler. She graduated from Chester High School in 1941 and from the School of Pharmacy at SDSU in 1945. Dolly married Leo D. Nelsen in Phoenix, AZ in 1945 and they had two children, Susan and Dale. They farmed in the Colman area until his death on August 19, 1951. Dolly worked as a Pharmacist at Rolfe's Drug Store in Flandreau until her marriage to Luverne Jorgensen on February 24, 1953 at Luverne, MN. They lived on a farm in the Flandreau area, except for a year spent in Oregon. Besides her duties as a mother and farmer's wife, she worked as a relief Pharmacist at Family Pharmacy in Flandreau. Dolly was a member of Colman Lutheran Church, WELCA, Busy Bee Club, Daughters of the American Revolution and she loved gardening.
Dolly is survived by her husband, Luverne; 3 children, Laurie (Jerry) Garry, Mitchell, SD, Tom (Mary) Jorgensen, Parker, CO, Amy (Dave) Weiler, St. Louis, MO; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, daughter, Susan Nelsen, son, Dale Nelsen, her parents, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday at Colman Lutheran Church with burial in Colman Cemetery. Visitation begins at 5:00 pm Thursday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
