Dennis Schoeberl, age 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his home in Richland Center, WI, on Thursday, July 10, 2025. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, Dennis will be remembered for being stubborn in the best way, with a heart full of love and a perfectly timed dry joke. He gave his family everything that mattered.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Pratt Memorial Service, 120 N. Park St., Richland Center, WI. A funeral service will be held at St. Peter Catholic Parish, 200 North Allen Ave, Colman, SD, 57017 on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM. Burial in Colman St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow the burial.
Dennis was born in Winfred, SD to Ambrose and Veronica Schoeberl. He was a manager at Richland Electric since 1976 and had 37 years of experience working with rural electric co-ops. Prior to joining the Richland Center-based co-op, he served as a journeyman lineman and construction foreman for Sioux Valley Empire Electric Association of Colman, South Dakota, where he began working in 1956. He attended South Dakota State University before his employment with Sioux Valley. Dennis loved to spend time golfing, camping, traveling with his wife and spending time with loved ones.
Dennis was married to Kathy Henderson in 1957 and together they had seven children. In 1975, he married Janet Ross, blending their families, having a son and went on to celebrate 50 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Schoeberl; his brothers, Milton (Sharon) Schoeberl, Mark (Shirley) Schoeberl, Allen (Doris) Schoeberl and Roger Schoeberl; sisters, Jan (Denny) Welbig, Judy (Dan) Dahl and Jane (Reginald) Nordquist; sons, Jim (Lollene) Schoeberl and David (Jenna) Schoeberl; daughters, Mari Dysart, Lori Stern, Gail (Eric) Johansen, Stacey (Jeff) Ostlund; stepchildren, Rick (Shirley) Hohler and Jim Hohler; son-in-law, Donovan Small; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Veronica Schoeberl; his brother, Alden Schoeberl; his sister-in-laws, Robbie Schoeberl and Donna Kay Schoeberl; his daughter, Teresa Small; and his son, Robert Schoeberl.
Dennis' memory will be forever cherished by his family and all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, dedication and "the look" will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be part of his life.
