Dennis James Corcoran

Dennis James Corcoran, 72, of Flandreau, South Dakota, passed away at his home on September 24, 2026. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, South Dakota. The family will be present for visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.

Dennis James Corcoran was born on May 6, 1954, in Volga, South Dakota, to Raymond and Isabell (Kramer) Corcoran. He was the third youngest of ten siblings. Dennis spent his early years in Sinai before moving with his family to Flandreau. He attended Vance Country School through the eighth grade and later graduated from Flandreau High School with the Class of 1972.

Dennis was a hard worker from a young age, spending his summers baling hay and helping with farmwork. Shortly after graduating from high school, he began working for B&B Concrete, where he quickly worked his way up to manager. He remained manager until 2005.

On October 19, 2005, Dennis married Heather Hanson. Together, they raised three children, Kyla, Kenneth, and Keanan, at their home located on the same property as the concrete plant. Dennis continued to reside there for the remainder of his life.

Throughout his life, Dennis had a love for airplanes and earned his pilot's license. He even had a plane of his own. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, and spending time with his friends.

Dennis faced and overcame many health challenges throughout his life. He was especially proud to be a 21-year survivor of esophageal cancer.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Heather (Hanson) Corcoran; his children, Kyla Aksic, Kenneth Corcoran, and Keanan Corcoran; his granddaughter, Irena Aksic; his siblings, Betty Martens, Michael (Deanna) Corcoran, Patricia Kanz, Janice Bos, Gregory (Laurie) Corcoran, and Ray Corcoran; and many nieces, nephews, friends, and coworkers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Isabell Corcoran; and his siblings, Phyliss Corcoran, Roy Corcoran, Bonnie O’Brien, and Tom Corcoran Sr.
