Delores B. Knutson, 89, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Good Samaritan Village. She was born February 21, 1926 to Carl John and Emma Rose (Hein) Dueis at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. She received her education in Sioux Falls. Delores worked at Newberger Dime Store at the toy counter and did office work at Rich Brothers Fireworks and Toys. Delores married Marlan Otto Knutson on February 26, 1956 at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls where she had also been baptized and confirmed. They farmed northwest of Flandreau, SD and lived on the same farm until November 2009. Delores worked at SDSU in Brookings from May 1962 through June 1987 when she retired. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 26, 2006. Her husband preceded her in death on November 2, 2009. Delores was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Flandreau, belonged to Sioux River Sue Extension Club and liked to do ceramics, needle punch work and crossword puzzles.
Delores is survived by son Merlin O. (Lisa) Knutson, three granddaughters, Kimberly (Kyle) Niemann, Kelsey and Katelyn Knutson, and one great-granddaughter Natalie, all of Sioux Falls, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Dwane Dueis.
Funeral services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls. Visitation is from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
