Debra "DJ" Johanson, 60, passed away Monday, April 25, 2016 at Southridge Healthcare, Sioux Falls. She was born December 21, 1955 to Robert and Sally (Lacey) Johanson. Deb went to Chamberlain Country School for grade school and graduated from Flandreau High School in 1974. After graduation she moved to Scarsdale, NY to be a nanny. She returned a year later to attend Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls. Deb moved to Washington, DC and worked for the federal government, including the FBI and VA. Her job took her to Houston, Anchorage and Cleveland. She retired after 20 years and then moved home to be close to family. She worked numerous jobs in Sioux Falls. Deb was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, was a prayer partner and made items for shut-ins, nursing homes and Sunday school. She enjoyed her nieces and nephews, baking, sewing, crocheting, knitting and puzzles.
Deb is survived by her four siblings, Kathy (Jeff) Dietrich, Luverne, MN; Randy (Deb), Flandreau; Brett (Kim), Flandreau; Marla (Gary) Lang, Sioux Falls; sister-in-law Jodi, Flandreau; 17 nieces and nephews, Justin, Hannah, Cody, Sadie, Jacob, Bob, Matthew, Paige, Brooke, Kelly, Lane, Samantha, Nick, Kaitlin, David, Daniel, Grace, five great-nieces and nephews, Brynn, Tinley, Brett, Kaysi, Véda, Aunt Norma Johanson, Stevens Point, WI; Uncle Ernie Stadum, Fargo, ND; Uncle Dick and Aunt Konny Lacey, Brandon, SD, numerous cousins and special friends, Mary Clark and Marlys Drewes. Deb was preceded in death by her parents and brother Craig.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 29, 2016 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Friday.
