Dean Eldon Dexter, 81, of Elkton, SD, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.

Dean was born on September 25, 1942 to Eldon and Evelyn (Anderson) Dexter. He grew up and received his education in Elkton, SD.

When he turned 18 he enlisted into the United States Army and served for two years. Upon his discharge, Dean returned to Elkton. He worked odd jobs for a time before beginning his career in trucking which would span more than 45 years.

Dean was an avid sportsman often fishing and hunting; he also enjoyed remote control airplanes, and woodworking. He was a jack of all trades.

Grateful for having shared in his life are his siblings, Jean Dexter, Brookings, SD, Lori Jacobson and her husband, Brad, Coon Rapids, MN, Dawn Jackson and her husband, Doug, Sioux Falls, SD and Craig Dexter, Brookings, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Evelyn Dexter, and siblings, Judy and Larry Dexter.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
