David Paul Warner, age 56, died Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at his rural Flandreau home. David was born on December 15, 1956 to Paul and Betty (Folster) Warner in Omaha, NE. He was beloved as a child, especially by his grandmother. David served as an acolyte, lay reader, shined shoes in his neighborhood and played the trumpet, drums and trombone. David attended South Omaha High School, where he was a talented athlete in both football and baseball. He also cared about human rights. David was an energetic entrepreneur, who began his own construction business at age 15. He was married to Rosemary (Gottlieb) in 1974. David later joined the U.S. Army, where he received his GED and trained as a scout during the Vietnam Era. A son, Justin Warner was born on December 12, 1991. David had been called by God into ministry and in 1989 got a degree in ministerial studies, counseling and Biblical studies at an Extension program of Bartlesville Wesleyan University, Bartlesville, OK; in 1993 he earned an associates of art degree in Biblical Studies and in 2003 a degree in Ministry both at Nazarene Bible College, Colorado Springs, CO. David's career included work for the Billy Graham Crusade, service as a pastor, evangelist, radio show host, and the owner of a construction and home inspection company. David married Tricia Waxdahl on July 5, 2003 in Flandreau. A daughter, Caitlin Warner was born on April 23, 2007. David performed her baptism. Although he was injured and endured 39 surgeries, David's knowledge of the bible, his faith and witness for God always remained his greatest strengths. He loved his wife, his children, family and friends. He enjoyed movies, music, horses, eagles, camping, the Denver Broncos the Green Bay Packers and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

David is survived by his wife, Tricia, Flandreau, daughter, Caitlin, Flandreau, son, Justin, Bellevue, NE, mother-in-law, Ginnie Waxdahl, Flandreau, 2 brothers, James (Joyce) Bayly and Mark (Diane) Warner, brother-in-law Tyler, (Myra) Waxdahl, Watertown, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Betty Warner and his father-in-law, Gordon Waxdahl.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Flandreau with burial in Lone Rock Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
