Darleen Mae Kern, 84, Dell Rapids, SD passed away, Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Dells Nursing and Rehab Center, Dell Rapids. Darleen was born June 17, 1935 at Flandreau, SD to Robert and Dorothy (Kohlrusch) Kern. She attended Gale Ridge Country School and graduated from Colman High School in 1953. Darleen earned a registered nursing degree at Methodist Hospital in Mitchell, SD. She moved to Glendale, CA where she worked as an OB delivery nurse where she became a nursing supervisor. Darleen returned home in 1973 to help her Dad on the farm. She babysat for neighbor kids and then worked at The Crossroads Truck Stop for several years. She enjoyed oil painting, bird watching, her dogs and was an avid reader.

Darleen is survived by 7 cousins and was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Friday, November 22, 2019 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman with burial in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Friday at the chapel.
