Obituary

Darin Thomas Schoeberl passed away on August 6, 2018 in McAlester, Oklahoma surrounded by family and friends, at the age of 50. Darin was born in Marshall, MN on November 22, 1967. As a child the family moved to Sauk Centre, MN and to Salina, KS. In Junior High and High School, he played football, wrestled and was in track. As a teenager, he spent several summers at his Uncle Kendal's farm near Beresford, SD. His senior year of high school he moved to Marshall, MN and went on to attend Southwest State University, graduating cum laude. He enjoyed golf, downhill skiing and was an avid duck and goose hunter. Fall was spent with his father and brothers in a duck blind doing what he liked best. After his accident he spent a year at the Walker Institute in California. After graduating college, he worked in Watertown and Aberdeen, SD at Farmers Home Administration. He then moved to Minneapolis, MN to work at TCF Bank and TransAmerica. Darin's greatest joy was his nephews and nieces. Ella and Darin enjoyed good times together racing his wheelchair through the mall, going to movies, and shopping. He moved to McAlester, OK and was employed at McAAP. He loved his job and especially his work family.

D arin is survived by his mother, Roberta Schoeberl, McAlester, OK; sister, Richelle (Dr. Brent Miller) Miller, McAlester, OK; two brothers, Justin (Lori) Schoeberl, Victoria, MN, and Greg Schoeberl, Farmington, MN; six nephews and nieces, Jordan Banks (Jessica), McAlester, OK, Micah Miller (Amanda), Moore, OK, Allyssa Carlisle, Norman, OK, Alexis Appling (Brett), Moore, OK, Chandler Banks, McAlester, OK and Ella Schoeberl, Victoria, MN; four great nephews and nieces, Cooper Carlisle, Elizabeth Banks, Harper Banks and Bennett Appling; and many cherished aunts, uncles and cousins. Darin was preceded in death by his father, Alden Thomas Schoeberl; nephew, Taylor Robert Banks; uncle, James Schoeberl; and grandparents, Ambrose and Veronica Schoeberl, Erling and Frances Swee.


Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Colman. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday in the Cabernet Room at ClubHouse Hotel & Suites (2320 S Louise Ave, Sioux Falls). Memorials can be sent to the First National Bank, P.O. Box 948, McAlester, OK 74501 for the Darin Schoeberl Memorial Fund. Memorials will be used for Disabled Veterans and Disabled Children who need financial assistance for equipment and supplies.
