IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Dale E.
Even
November 3, 1939 – February 17, 2021
At age 81, Dale Even of Elkton, SD, went to be with the Lord on February 17, 2021. Dale Eugene Even was born on November 3, 1939, in Tyler, Minnesota, the 2nd of 4 children to John and Alice Even. Having attended the First Baptist Church in Elkton, he accepted Christ as his personal savior at 9 years old and continued to be active in the church throughout his life. His early childhood years were spent attending a country school north of Elkton that was part of District 48. He then attended Elkton High School where he was actively involved in Basketball, Track, Softball, FFA, and 4-H. He graduated in 1957 and continued working with his dad at their family farm.
He was married to Judy Dahl on August 3, 1963, at White Baptist Church in White, SD. To this union, 4 children were born. He was an avid supporter of his children's activities and never missed a game. He was active in supporting his grandchildren's activities as well and attended as much as possible. He farmed until the fall of 1985 before moving into Elkton where he was employed by The Mushroom Plant and Lincoln Hills & Supreme Pork Hog Confinement where he retired at age 72. After retirement, he found a new passion for yard work and spent his days taking care of lawns around Elkton.
Dale was a loving brother, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for his faith in Christ and love for family. He had a quiet, confident demeanor with a sweet gentle soul, but never failed to light up the room with his contagious laugh. If there was anything that Dale loved more than drinking pop or watching the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, it would be his John Deer Mower and Dodge Truck.
He is survived by his wife Judy of Elkton, SD, children Todd (Tamara) of Hartford, SD, Chad (Julie) of Chanhassen, MN, Tron (Lisa) of Collierville, TN, Tara (Cheyne) Redenius of Las Vegas, NV. Grandchildren Lexi, Brooke, Hunter, Ethan, Tate, Taylor, Trey, Michael, Shelby, Sydney, Finn, and Eli. Siblings Joan (Lee) Pratt, Lois Knutson and sister-in-law Marlene Even. Dale was preceded in death by his parents John and Alice, brother Lyle, nephew Cliff Pratt, mother and father-in-law Calvin and Gladys Dahl, and brother-in-law Alvin Knutson.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the First Baptist Church, Elkton, with burial in Elkton City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, February 19, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
