Craig Charles Schroeder, age 67, of Steen, MN passed away on his birthday, August 8, 2017 at Sioux Falls VA Medical Center.  Craig was born August 8, 1950 in Flandreau, SD, to Arlo H. and Marjorie E. (Hayes) Schroeder of rural Egan, SD.  Craig, from a very young age, was passionate about any projects where he could use his mind and hands.  Project cars, race cars, or home projects, he liked staying busy.  Entering the Navy in 1969 he was a diesel mechanic and was honorably discharged in 1972.  In Lincoln, NE he installed HVAC systems and rebuilt outboard marine engines.  At Hi-Gain electronics, in addition to maintenance and installation duties, he toured the county with Johnny Rutherford's McClaren race car for car shows.  In Colorado he was lead electrician/assembler for automated palletizing equipment.  Craig moved back to be closer to family, settling in Rock Rapids, IA and more recently Steen, MN after his home was flooded.
Craig is survived by sons, Casey and Neil Schroeder, both of Plano, TX; mother Marjorie, of Pipestone, MN; sister, Janice (Dale) Wussow, of Pipestone and brother, Kevin (Ellen Thayer) Schroeder, of Minneapolis, MN.  Craig was preceded in death by his father, Arlo and his grandparents, Charles Luther Hayes, Clara Eliza (Hilmoe) Hayes, August F Schroeder, and Emma C (Schrum) Schroeder.

There will be a memorial visitation at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, on Tuesday, August 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private family burial of his cremains will be held at Hillside Cemetery, Egan, SD.
