Connie Lou Peper, 70, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2020 at her home under hospice care. Connie was born December 3, 1949 to Leslie and Marvel (Rusk) Jewett at Flandreau. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1969 and married James Peper on November 1, that same year. They lived in Flandreau where Connie ran a daycare from their home. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Paul's Shurfine before working as a clerk at the Flandreau Hospital. Connie spent the final decade of her working life as the secretary at Our Savior's Lutheran Church before retiring in February 2018. Connie enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino, attending sporting events for her children and grandchildren, playing cards, and spoiling her grandchildren. She was known for collecting spoons and Santa Clauses as well as her bright smile and infectious laugh.
Connie is survived by her husband James; their three children: Lori (Robert) Williams, Flandreau, Travis (Heather) Peper, Flandreau, and Scott (Tiffany) Peper, Mitchell, SD; seven grandchildren: Hannah, Hailey, Lily, Kennedy, Wrigley, Paxton, and Presley; her five brothers Richard Jewett, Flandreau, Ron Jewett, Sun City, AZ, Gary (Candy) Jewett, Tonopah, NV, Arthur (Millie) Jewett, Hopkins, MN, and David Jewett, Flandreau; six sisters Jean Robles, Flandreau, Betty Ann Grunwald, Embarrass, MN, Kay (Gerald) Umbreit, Luverne, MN, Glenda Hansen, Flandreau, Nancy Dahmen, Flandreau, and Sally Sorensen, Flandreau; and her sisters-in-law: Pam Jewett, Hopkins, MN, Bev (Wayne) Taylor, Flandreau, Jo Rice, Howard, SD, and Darlene Mulder, Flandreau. Connie was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Donald and Dennis Jewett; her sister Linda Jewett, brothers-in-law, Paul Dahmen, Marlyn Grunwald, Ralph Hansen, and Jim Mulder; sisters-in-law Carolyn, Glenda, and Kay Jewett.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 11:00 am at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Flandreau, with burial at Union Cemetery. Public visitation without family present will be held Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
