Colette Anderson

Colette Anderson, 71, of Flandreau, South Dakota, passed away at her home on Thursday, September 24, 2026. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage, South Dakota, with visitation an hour before the service. Burial will be at the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, followed by lunch at the Carthage Community Hall.

Colette (Swanson) Anderson, daughter of Russell and Crystle (Nelson) Swanson, was born July 26, 1955, in Huron. Colette graduated from Carthage High School in 1973 and then graduated from Stewart’s School of Hair Styling in Sioux Falls. She married Mark Anderson on July 20, 1974, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. They made their home in Carthage, where she worked as a beautician for many years and raised two sons, Blaine and Brice. She also worked at UltiMed in DeSmet until she retired.

Colette was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Carthage. She was also a member of the Loyal Ladies and participated in the annual melodrama plays for many years.

Colette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved to spend time with her family, especially the many trips to her children's and grandchildren's sporting events.

Grateful for having shared in Colette's life are her two sons, Blaine (Jessica) Anderson of Huron and Brice (Amy) Anderson of Livingston, MT; four grandchildren, Jaya Anderson and Oakley Anderson, Aubrey (Richard) Bullard, and Kyler (Darra) Cavin; two great-grandchildren, Elaina Bullard and Lincoln Cavin; two sisters, Patricia (Gary) Junker of Redfield and Angie (Bill) Nibbelink of Flandreau; two brothers-in-law, Rod Anderson of Sioux Falls and Doug (Marnell) Anderson of Bend, OR; one sister-in-law, Gloria Anderson of Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews and their families.

Colette was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; her parents; and one sister, Donna Person, and brother-in-law, Leroy Person.
