Obituary

Clint Waln, 33, of Flandreau, SD, passed away at Ava's Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born on November 8, 1991 in Pipestone, MN to Valeria Marshall and Shaun Waln. He attended school in Bonsteel and Flandreau school districts.

Although he was only 33 at the time of his death, Clint touched the hearts of many people in his lifetime.  He was an avid sport enthusiast. He always looked forward to his favorite sports teams playing, the New England Patriots, the Miami Heat and the UFC fights. Clint started playing in a dart league in 2019.  He was a part of the Cape Crusaders.  Clint loved darts and was an exceptional player.  He brought the best out in his team.  He would say "If you don't, I will."  Clint had a passion for music.  He loved all types and loved going to concerts any chance he could get.  His favorite artists were Machine Gun Kelly and Jelly Roll.  He felt like he could really relate to their music and loved every movie MGK was in.  Clint started tattooing at an early age in his mom's basement. He would tattoo many of his friends, and most of his own tattoos were done by himself.  He loved to make unique drawings for his tattoos.  He dreamed of being a tattoo artist.  He worked several jobs throughout his life including the Royal River Casino as a buffet attendant/cook, a bartender at Fat Boys, Michael Foods as a laborer, and recently he worked for his uncle Calvin at Silverback Plumbing in Rapid City before returning to Flandreau.

Clint will be remembered as a true friend.  He was funny, loving, and a caring man who always looked out for the people he loved.  Family was everything to him.  His loss will leave a huge hole in many hearts.  His love for his family and friends never went unnoticed.  If he loved you, you knew it.

He was proceeded in death by his grandma Barb; grandpa Cliff, Sr.; mother, Valeria Marshall; older brother, Travis; aunt Lynn One Star; cousin, Kaitlyn; and friend Chris Nelson.

He is survived by his daughter, Avah Mae Westphal; siblings: Charles Wasson, Jr., Rhiannah Wasson, Chance Wasson, Nechelle Packard, Kira Waln, Tre Waln, Stacy Waln; his father, Shaun Waln; grandma Ida, aunts: Bennie Kitteaux, Kate Marshall, Leilani Star, Cheyenne Marshall, Donella (Misun), Lori  (Leon) Ten Fingers, Nona (Chris) Marshall; uncles: Calvin Kapule, Kelly Moran, Eldon Marshall, Brandy Marshall, Owen Marshall, John Webb;  and many cousins.

Private family services will be held at a later date.
