Christopher John Fletcher, age 45, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday April 22, 2015 in Mitchell, SD. He was born September 22, 1969 in Minneapolis, MN to John W. and Margaret M. (Hutchinson) Fletcher. He graduated from Cyrus High School in 1988 in Cyrus, MN. Chris attended Technical College in Alexandria and Willmar, MN studying Parts Merchandising and Welding. He returned to Morris, MN for several years, during which his eldest daughter was born. He then moved to the Flandreau area in 1994 to be closer to his sister, Kim Scherff. In 1999, Chris met and fell in love with Melissa Schmoker. They were united in marriage on June 9, 2001 in Flandreau. They were blessed with 2 more children. He worked as a truck driver and mechanic in the Flandreau region for the past 21 years. His amazing drive and work ethics shone through in any job he held. Most recently Chris worked for Dowling Trucking out of Fort Pierre, SD.
Things that made Chris the happiest were relaxing with his children, restoring and driving his Father's dune buggy, riding his motorcycle (or later other "big boy toys"), fishing, teaching his son about trucks (especially Peterbilts), traveling, and snuggling with the family's Bulldogs. There wasn't anything that he couldn't fix or repair. He loved to play practical jokes (Watch out for that smirk!) and brought joy to everyone who met him.

Blessed to have shared his life are his wife, Melissa; three children, Elizabeth of Watertown, SD, Caidan and Taylor of Flandreau; his mother, Maggie of Morris, MN; two sisters Kari Schmidt and her husband Dwain of Morris, MN and Kelli Allison and her husband Kevin of Shiloh, IL as well as a special niece, Mollie Brink of Winona, MN in addition to numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Kimberly and Ann.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Flandreau. Visitation is from 5:00 - 7:00 pm Monday with a 7:00 pm rosary followed by sharing at Skroch Funeral Chapel.
