Obituary

Charles "Charlie" J. Greco, age 78, of Florence Gardens, AZ formerly of Flandreau, passed away Friday at Villa Hospice in Mesa, AZ. Charles was born August 20, 1934 to Joseph and Mary Greco in Massillon, OH. He received his education in Massillon and graduated in 1952 from Central Catholic School. Charlie joined the US Army on February 15, 1954 serving during the Korean War and Vietnam War. During this time, he was awarded three bronze stars and retired a Sgt 1st Class E7. Charlie married Maxine Reynolds on October 21, 1960 in Flandreau, SD. He served in several stations around the world, retiring on April 30, 1974. They moved to Flandreau, SD and Charlie worked at Firestone and then they owned Charlie's Bowl. Then he worked for EROS, retiring in 1992. He was greens keeper at the Flandreau Golf Course, served one term on the Flandreau City Council and was a member of Toastmasters in Sioux Falls. They moved to Florence Gardens, AZ in 1995. He served on Florence Garden's Board for three terms, CAI for 9 ½ years and was a member of the Elks Club.

Charlie is survived by his wife Maxine, a son, Joe (Myong), Brandon, SD, daughter, Mary Jane (Kevin) Maiers, Flandreau, four grandchildren, Michael Greco, Joseph Volden, Allison (Chris) Maiers, Jackie (Jared) Maiers, two great-granddaughters, Alexa and Kaelyn and a sister, Connie Fry, Oklahoma City, OK. He was preceded in death by a daughter, granddaughter, his parents, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the United Methodist Church, Flandreau, with burial in Union Cemetery.
