Catherine Shirley Wallert, age 2, of Flandreau, went to her forever home on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Avera Flandreau Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau. The family will be present for visitation from 5:00PM to 7:00PM with a prayer service beginning at 6:45PM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau, SD.

Catherine Shirley Wallert, was born to Tyler Wallert and Erika Lee on May 20, 2023. She was a vibrant, full-of life little girl.  She loved to dance to Miss Rachel, watch Elmo, swing on her swing set in the back yard, decorate the sidewalk with chalk, and jump on the trampoline and the couch.  Catherine enjoyed teasing people by taking their glasses off or stealing their hat with a mischievous look in her eye.

She was learning the power of the word "no".  Her quick response to questions would be a giggly "NO!"  Her latest shenanigans were to throw her sippy cup on the floor with a smile on her face waiting to be told no; or she would throw her food on the floor, which indicated that she was "done eating."  When family called to facetime, Catherine would walk away with the phone like she owned it and carry on a conversation.  She loved to be outdoors. She often would grab the car keys and head for the door. That was her language of communication to say, "I want to go out to play!"

Catherine was definitely a "daddy's girl".  She would be waiting by the door after work each day for her daddy.  And when she saw him, she would jump up and down screaming with excitement. Her favorite thing was to have daddy rub her feet with lotion.

Pink was fast becoming her favorite color and "meow", "mommy and daddy" her new words.   She was a happy little girl who loved life and loved her family dearly!

Catherine is survived by her parents, Tyler Wallert and Erika Lee; brother, William; grandparents: Chuck and Rhonda Lee, Doris Lee, Karyn Wallert; uncles: CJ Lee, Mo Yusuf, Benjamin Wallert, Evan Cummings and his children, Maddie and Colby Cummings; aunts: Aleeah Yusuf, Erin Cummings and her son, Wesley Swanson; great-grandparents: Edith Auvil, Roger and Shirley Schmit; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and her beloved cat, Lola.

She is preceded in death by her great-aunt and great-uncle, Robert William and Sue Lee; and great-grandparents: Ida Catherine Lee, Alfred Lee, Sr., and Francis and Doris Wallert.
