Catherine L. (Allen) Teer, age 97, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Edgewood Healthcare, Flandreau. Catherine Allen was born on February 19, 1923 in Butler, AL to Ben and Ellen (Ruffin) Allen. In 1936, she moved to East St. Louis, IL. She graduated high school in 1942. In 1943, Catherine married Cornelius Teer, Jr. and became a mother of four children. In 1950, she became a licensed beautician. In 1952, the Teer Family moved to Flandreau, SD and in 1966, Teer's Ceramics was opened. Catherine was a member of the United Methodist Church, Flandreau where she was active in the United Methodist Women. In 1984, she chaired the Wholeness Center in Flandreau.

She is survived by her daughter, Reverend Cathryn Teer-Hodge, Winston-Salem, NC; son, Minister Carl (Cindy) Teer, Harrisburg, SD; daughter, Karla Fischbach (Billiam); 9 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Teer, Jefferson City, MO.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius Teer, Jr.; children, Cornelius Teer III, and Carolyn Teer; parents, Ben and Ellen Allen; and 13 siblings.

Memorial Services will be 1:00 pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the United Methodist Church, Flandreau. Visitation will begin one hour prior. Pastor Amber Laffey will officiate. Livestream will be available through the Flandreau United Methodist Church's Facebook Page:
