Bonnie Bean Eikmeier, 85, of Flandreau, passed away Monday, August 22, 2016 at Riverview Health Community in Flandreau. Bonnie was born September 6, 1930 at Eagle Grove, IA to Louis and Mable (Jensen) Lindsay. She received her education in Eagle Grove, IA and graduated from high school in 1948. Bonnie was married on July 9, 1950 at Eagle Grove to James Bean. They lived in Des Moines, IA, Chicago, IL, Poughkeepsie, AR, Wheatland, WY, Belcourt, ND and moved to Flandreau in 1967. Jim preceded her in death on September 24, 1983. Bonnie married Lowell Eikmeier on July 14, 1990 in Flandreau. Bonnie was a member of the Flandreau United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, various extension clubs in ND and SD, Sunday School Supper, UMW, and mission projects. She always did handiwork (stitching and knitting), loved traveling, cooking, canning and freezing and was an avid reader.
Bonnie is survived by her husband, Lowell; 4 children, Doug (Margaret) Bean, Wasilla, AK; River (Sarah) Bean, Palmer, AK; William (Jeanie) Bean, Rockmart, GA; Rebecca (Norman) Bean-Mullan, Kodiak, AK; 4 step-children, Lola (Lyle) DeCock, Ghent, MN; Becky Eikmeier, St. Peter, MN; Barbara Eikmeier, Hadley, MN; Sally Eikmeier, Rapid City, SD; 9 grandchildren, Monique (Scott) Richter, Jesse Bean, Logan Bean, Fabian Bean, Christopher (Jessica) Bean, LeAli Bean, Wiyanna (Bryan) Blalock, Parry Nelson, Britta Mullan; 3 step-grandchildren, Wesley (Courtney) Mullan, Cindy Mullan, Alexandria Mullen; 5 great-grandchildren, Ashton Richter, Trinity Bean, Johanna Bean, Daniel Bean, Trinton Hestor; 2 step-great-grandchildren, Parker Mullan, Kellen Mullan; 2 sisters, Dixie (Harold) Janssen, Tenstrike, MN and Maryellen (Arnold) Hanson, Story City, IA. Bonnie was preceded in death by her first husband, James Bean, a grandson, Douglas (P.J.) Bean and her parents.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Flandreau United Methodist Church with burial in Union Cemetery, Flandreau. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
