Obituary

Beverly Ann Lytle, 73, passed away Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home in Elkton. Beverly was born April 29, 1940 in Montevideo, MN to Arthur and Florence (Funk) Nyvold. Beverly attended kindergarten in Montevideo. The family moved to Conde, SD where she attended grades 1 through 12, graduating from high school in 1958. Following graduation from Aberdeen School of Commerce in 1959, Beverly worked for Flasco Body & Equipment in Aberdeen, SD until 1961. Beverly met and married John (Jack) Lytle on April 16, 1961 in Aberdeen, SD. Jack and Bev were blessed with 6 children during their marriage. Jack and Bev lived for a short time in both Britton, SD and Kadoka, SD before settling down in Elkton, SD in 1969. In 1973, Beverly went to work at what is now known as Cenex as a bookkeeper and remained there until 1981. In 1982, she went through the Midwest Coast truck-driving school and drove team with Jack until 1983. In 1984, she joined the team at Pamida in Brookings, SD and also worked part-time as a bookkeeper for Elkton Lumber. Eventually her job at Elkton Lumber transitioned into full-time. At that time she also partnered with Linda Louder in the purchase and operation of "Ivy Lane Quilts & Stuff" in Elkton. Beverly retired from Elkton Lumber on her 69th birthday in 2009, and in January of 2010, Bev and Linda decided to close the quilt shop. Beverly was a member of the Elkton Women's Club for several years. She was also a member of the United Parish of Elkton, where she served as organist for many years. She was also an elected member of the Elkton City Council for 4 years. Beverly loved playing piano, reading, dancing, spending time with her grandchildren and wouldn't give up until she had as many family members as possible enjoying quilting as much as she did!

Bev is survived by her husband Jack Lytle, 3 daughters, Rene Lytle (Linda), Elkton, SD, Ronda Hurd (Patrick), Sioux Falls, SD, Rochelle Lytle, Sioux Falls, SD, 3 sons, John Lytle (Pamela), Forest, VA, Don Lytle, Blair, NE, Steve Lytle (Josenda), Prior Lake, MN, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, her brother-in-law Dale Kahla, her sister Patricia Jensen (Doug), nieces, nephews and cousins. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Kathryn (Kay) Kahla.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Friday, June 14, 2013 at United Parish of Elkton with burial in the Elkton City Cemetery. Visitation is 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday with a 7:00 pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Elkton.
