Betty Rapp, 79, passed away Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Palisade Manor in Garretson, SD. Betty was born November 25, 1935 to George and Ella (Overhagen) Meissner in Sparta, WI. She attended high school in Sparta. Betty married Gene Rapp on March 7, 1968 in Sparta, Wisconsin. Gene and Betty moved to Egan, SD in 1978. He preceded her in death on May 19, 1999. After Gene's death she moved to Four Winds Apartments in Flandreau where she met a community of friends who became her second family. After she became ill, her Four Winds family surrounded her with love and support every day. Betty enjoyed gardening, horses, canning, boating on the Mississippi River, and loved her plants. Betty loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Jeff Westness, Sioux Falls, Steven Westness, Brookings, eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, sister, LaVonne Prusa, Black River Falls, WI, brother Dennis (Kathy) Meissner, White House, TN, many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Gene, mother, Ella, father, George, and brother-in-law, Ed Prusa.

Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Thursday, March 5, 2015 at Skroch Funeral Chapel with burial in Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Cemetery.
