Bette J. Bach, age 80, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Brookview Manor, Brookings. Bette was born on May 18, 1932 at Pipestone, MN to Garland and Lila(Hanson) Johnson. She graduated from Pipestone High School in 1950 and was active in the band and choir. Bette moved to Lutsan, MN and then returned to Pipestone and worked at Armour's Poultry. In 1961 she moved to Flandreau and worked at West End Cafe, the Coast-to-Coast Store and drove school bus for the Flandreau School District. Bette was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and loved to play cards, attend church and most importantly spend time with her family and grandchildren.

Bette is survived by 4 children, Gary (Susan) Nelson, Grand Marias, MN, Jeff (Irene) Nelson, Pipestone, Greg (Laura) Nelson, Flandreau, Toni Taylor, Colman; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Connie Kortleever, Hatfield, MN, Nancy Dockum, Santa Barbara, CA, Linda (Chuck) Diederich, Wilmer, MN, Marcia Burtts, Brookings and sister-in-law, Carolyn Johnson, Maiden, NC. Bette is preceded in death by her 2 sons, Steve Nelson and Kevin Nelson; daughter, Robin; her husband's; parents and 2 brothers, Dallas Johnson and Jim Johnson.

Funeral services will be Friday, September 7, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with burial at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel with a 7:00 PM prayer service.
