Arline E. Westover, 86, died Thursday, March 1, 2012 at Good Samaritan Village, Sioux Falls. Arline was born July 27, 1925 at Flandreau, SD to Iver and Marie (Fosmark) Thompson. She grew up on the family farm in Lone Rock Township in Moody County. Arline graduated from Flandreau High School in 1943 and continued her education at Nettleton College in Sioux Falls. Arline married Robert W. Westover on December 30, 1944 in Sioux Falls. Robert served in the Navy and Arline made their home wherever they were stationed. After Robert's discharge they returned to Moody County to farm and raised their 12 children. She worked many years at the Egan General Store. They moved to Dell Rapids in 2001. Robert preceded her in death on January 1, 2009. She entered the Good Samaritan Village in March of 2011. Arline was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dell Rapids, United Methodist Women and Lone Rock Historical Society. She will be remembered for her sewing, crocheting, gardening, canning from her garden, making lefse and following her children and grandchildren with their sports.

Arline is survived by 10 children: Mark (Roxann), Garretson, Tom (Barb), Egan, Barbara (Jim) Schenck, Barnesville, MN, Mary (Gordon) Lee, Clear Lake, Warren (Lisa), Sioux Falls, Terry (Tammy), Dell Rapids, Dale (Susan), Dakota Dunes, Todd (Jacqueline), Brandon, Rich (Kelley), Colman, Peggy (Shaun) Bell, Harrisonville, MO; a daughter-in-law, Marlene Westover, Cambridge, MN; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren with another one on the way. She is preceded in death by her husband; 2 sons, Kenneth and Merle; her parents; 1 brother, Clifford Thompson and 2 sisters Katherine Herrick and Mable Stordahl.

Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, 2012 at 11:00 AM at United Methodist Church, Dell Rapids with burial at Lone Rock Cemetery, rural Flandreau. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau with a 4:00 PM prayer service. www.skrochfc.com
