Arlene Vera Kiecksee, 88, of Flandreau, SD, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her home. Arlene was born on November 19, 1931 to William and Emma (Hartwig) Marquardt. She grew up and attended school in Elkton, SD. She worked as a waitress where she would meet her husband, Adelbert. The two were married on November 23, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Elkton; the church in which Arlene was baptized and confirmed. Arlene also worked as a telephone operator for Bell and after her marriage to Adelbert, became a farmwife and homemaker, working "odds and ends" jobs throughout the years. On the farm, Arlene enjoyed tending her garden and flowers, raising chickens, and playing "Farkle"; especially when she became ill. Arlene will be remembered for her special egg coffee, her favorite cat, Pumpkin, and her green olives. She was a member of the Ladies' Aid and the EVEning Women's Circle; and she was a Sunday School and Bible School teacher.

Arlene is survived by her daughter Carol Kiecksee and her son Melvin (Doraine) Kiecksee, both of Flandreau. Arelene was preceded in death by her husband, Adelbert (2012), her parents, an infant daughter, and one brother Charles Marquardt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ward, SD with a burial to follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, June 30 at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
