Anthony "Tony" John Birnbaum, 60, passed away unexpectedly in his apartment in Westminster, MD on Friday, July 10, 2020. Tony Birnbaum was born on September 10, 1959 in St. Paul, MN. He was adopted on February 1, 1960 by Don and Jean (Doyle) Birnbaum who then lived in Ivanhoe, MN. Tony was the second child and first son of a family of four. He attended School in Minnesota until the family moved back to South Dakota and settled on the Birnbaum farm near Egan. He then attended Egan Public School and graduated from Flandreau Public School in May of 1978. Tony married Robin McGee in Florida on January 7, 1984. They had one daughter, Crystal Marie on July 3, 1986. Tony and Robin lived in various places in Florida, Pennsylvania, and South Dakota. He worked construction much of his working life.

Tony is survived by his daughter, Crystal (Steve) Shaw; one granddaughter, Grace, all of Colorado Springs, CO; his mother and step-father, Jean and Don Pederson, Dell Rapids, SD; his siblings: Janet Dibbern, Trent, SD; Thomas Birnbaum, Trent, SD; and Karol (Ralph) Johnson, Dell Rapids, SD; his nephews: Chad Hasvold, Caleb Dibbern, Tanner (Angelica) Dibbern, and Elijah (Michela) Johnson; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Robin; father, Donald Birnbaum; grandparents, Henry and Agnes Birnbaum and Dave and Grace Doyle; and his brother-in-law, Michael Dibbern.

He will be interred at St. Simon and Jude Catholic Cemetery in Flandreau at a later date.
