Anita Zwart, 75, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Flandreau, passed away on December 2, 2023, at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls.  A celebration of Anita's life will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the United Methodist Church in Flandreau at 11:00 A.M.  Burial will immediately follow the service at Union Cemetery in Flandreau. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M.

Anita Grace Zwart was born on September 27, 1948, to Glen and Cleo (Wood) Cherney in Flandreau, South Dakota.  Anita spent her youth in Flandreau, graduating from Flandreau High School in 1966.  Anita went on to have two sons, Kevin and Robert, and was an exceptional mother.  As the boys grew older, Anita worked diligently to provide for them while putting herself through nursing school.  Completing her education, Anita went on to work as a nurse in Dell Rapids, Sioux Falls, and the Twin Cities.  Following her retirement, she moved to Sioux Falls, where she lived until her passing.

Anita had many passions throughout her life, but she especially loved crocheting.  Her love of crochet allowed her to make many handmade gifts for her family members, which they cherished.  She also greatly enjoyed the company of her beloved dog, Heidi.  Perhaps her greatest love in life were her grandchildren.  Anita loved her grandchildren and treasured time she was able to spend with them.

Anita is survived by her sons, Robert Zwart of Warsaw, MN, and Kevin (Becky) Zwart, of Farmington, MN; her grandchildren: Jordan Zwart, Karin Prause, Haleigh Zwart, Jacob Zwart, Izzy Zwart, and Drew Zwart; her 3 great-grandchildren: Aldo, Abra, and Sullivan; and her siblings, Phyllis Latham, of Flandreau, SD, and Kay (Daryl) Christensen, of Flandreau, SD.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Cleo Cherney.
