Allen Lee Herrick passed away on May 11, 2020 at the United Living Community in Brookings, SD. Allen was born on June 24, 1952 to Carlton and Minnie (Hopkins) Herrick at Flandreau, SD. Allen graduated from New Richland High School in Minnesota before attending votech, where he studied small engine repair. Upon graduating, Allen worked in Minnesota for a few years until he returned to Flandreau to work at a van shop. Allen then worked in construction as a roller driver, and met his wife Peggy who was a flagger. The two were married on September 14, 1991 at the Nunda Lutheran Church; and their daughter, Chelsea, was born October 1, 1995. Allen then stopped working in construction due to health reasons and in order to spend more time with his family. He grew hay and raised sheep and Boston Terriers. Allen will be remembered as a loving and caring guy with a great sense of humor who loved hunting, trapping, fishing, cars, and guns. Allen was a member of the NRA and the Bison Men's Club.

Allen is survived by his wife, Peggy Herrick, and daughter, Chelsea Herrick, both of Rutland, SD; his brother Ronald (Sue Cries) Herrick, Aurora, SD; his sister Kathy Herrick, Flandreau; sister Barb (Alvin) Anderson, Flandreau; brother Roger (Nancy) Herrick, Bushnell, SD; his mother and father-in-law: Vincent and Kathy Pickard, Rutland; his siblings-in-law: Chelle (Rory) Pluth, Green Bay, WI, Alan (Sheena) Pickard, Nunda, SD, Loren (Robin) Pickard, Brookings, SD; and many nieces and nephews on both sides with whom he was close. Allen was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lauren, Edward, Maynard, and Vincent Herrick; sisters Sharon Halstead and Marilyn Herrick.

Memorial services will occur at a later date.
