Alice Park, 86, passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at Touchmark All Saints in Sioux Falls. Alice was born on August 22, 1928 to John and Jennie (Bakker) Kramer near Sioux Center, IA. She completed her grade school education in a country school nearby. As a young child she worked at different locations in Sioux Falls. In July 1944, she joined her sister Henrietta, washing dishes at McCoys restaurant. Later, she did laundry at the Cataract Hotel, then, worked as an elevator operator at Albert Hotel. On July 9, 1951 she married Richard Park at Eastside Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls and moved to the family farm west of Colman, where they spent their lives together. They enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and the coffee pot was always on. Alice worked in the Colman School cafeteria and also cleaned the Colman bank for several years. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, her doll collection, baking and making crafts. Richard preceded her in death on September 9, 1991. She was a member of Colman Lutheran Church and WELCA.
She is survived by her children; Darrell Park, Sioux Falls, Keith (Marilyn) Park, Colman; five grandchildren, Becky (Travis) Pesicka, Colman, Bryan Park, Colman, Richard Park, Sioux Falls, Daniel (Lisa) Park, Pierre, Dennis Park, Sioux Falls; seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Noah, Kaitlyn, Mallory, Allison, Dawson, Paisley; one great-great grandchild, Bentley; two sisters, Henrietta Paulson, Sioux Falls, Margie (John) Harmelink, Rock Valley, IA; two brothers-in-law, Gerald Johnson Sr., Sioux Falls, Gerald (Jeannie) Van Der Vliet, Hull, IA; two sisters-in-law, Annie Kramer, Brandon, Ruby Kramer, Humboldt; many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, husband, eleven siblings, Elizabeth (Kramer) Van Duyn, Winnie (Kramer) Monster, Hattie (Kramer) Monster, John Kramer, Albert Kramer, Gerrit John Kramer, Jennie (Kramer) Johnson, Henry Kramer, Mary (Kramer) Van Der Vliet, Gerrit "Sonny" Kramer, and Martin Kramer.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at Colman Lutheran Church with burial in the Colman Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Colman, SD.
