Agnes M. Schwebach, 81, died Monday at the Inn on Westport, Sioux Falls. She was born December 1, 1927 at Montrose, SD to Daniel and Mary Anna (Barnhart) McDonnell. Her family moved to Graceville, MN and she graduated from St. Mary's in Graceville. Agnes married Linus Schwebach on May 11, 1948 in Collis, MN. They lived in Graceville and Colman then moved to Egan in 1955. Her husband preceded her in death on September 16, 1965. She started working part-time in 1965 as a postal clerk in Egan and in 1979 became postmaster until her retirement in 2000. She was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Altar Society, was a Eucharistic minister and did restoration painting on the altars and Stations of the Cross at her church. Agnes painted 116 oil paintings in her lifetime winning several awards, was a PTA member for 27 years, and was active in model rural development and Inter-Lakes Community Action.

Agnes is survived by 12 children: Sandra (Daryl) Simpson, Sioux Falls, Karen Schwebach, Sioux Falls, Dianne (Gene) Buffon, Clark, MO, Daniel (Suzie), N. Eastham, MA, Terry, Sioux Falls, Jerry (Cindy), Brandon, SD, Donna (Mark) Robidoux, Waterloo, WI, Janet Meyer, Sioux Falls, Michael, Lincoln, NE, Joe (LeAnn), Sioux Falls, Mary (Brian) Camus, Fleming Island, FL, Kathy (Blaine) Goetz, Onaka, SD; 31 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; and 2 sisters, Patricia (Melloy) Flaten, Cyrus, MN and Ellen Francisco, Falls Brook, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Linus; a son, Donald; her parents; and 4 brothers, Charles, Richard, John and Fritz.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm Friday at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 4:00 pm Thursday with a Catholic Daughter Rosary at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau, and an 8:00 pm scripture service.
