Adelbert Kiecksee, age 88, of Flandreau died Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at his home. Adelbert was born April 12, 1924 on the family farm in Moody County, SD to William and Sophie (Oldenburg) Kiecksee. He was educated in country schools in Moody County until the 8th grade. Delbert entered the US Army on December 29, 1948 and was honorably discharged on December 13, 1951. He returned home and began farming. On November 23, 1955 Delbert married Arlene Marquardt at Trinity Lutheran Church at Elkton, SD. His farm became a Century Farm in 2002. Delbert hosted several South Dakota State Hand Corn Picking Contests at his farm. He was a member of Dakota Heritage Corn Picking Club and a lifetime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Ward where he served on the church council for many years.

Delbert is survived by his wife, Arlene, Flandreau; 2 children, Carol Kiecksee, Flandreau, Melvin Kiecksee, Flandreau; 2 sisters, Lorraine Schroeder, Flandreau, Lenora Sundermeyer, Flandreau; 2 brothers, Wilmer (Genevieve) Kiecksee, Morgan, MN, Elmer (Vivian) Kiecksee, Brandon and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter; his parents and 2 brothers-in-law, Harold Schroeder and Walter Sundermeyer.

Funeral services will be Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Ward, SD with burial at Ward Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5-7 PM at the church.
