Reva M. Finch, 86 of Flandreau died Saturday at the Flandreau Medical Center. Reva was born on September 15, 1921 to Lewis and Florence (Relf) Anderson in Dell Rapids, SD. She grew up in Dell Rapids and Graduated from Dell Rapids High School in 1939. Following graduation Reva attended SDSU and graduated with a Bachelor’s in 1943. She taught in Chester, Webster, Egan and at Flandreau Indian School as a Home Economics teacher for a combined total of 17 years. She married Fred Finch on February 28, 1947 in Castlewood, SD. She continued to teach and Fred farmed. Together they traveled and spent 21 winters in Texas. Reva enjoyed playing Bridge, cooking, sewing, traveling, camping, working on family history and spending time with her great- nieces and nephews. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Flandreau, VFW Auxiliary of Flandreau.
Reva is survived by her husband Fred; brother, Kenneth Anderson of Dell Rapids; 5 nieces and nephews, Dale (Lana) Anderson of Pierre, Dean Anderson of Nashua, NH, Sharlene (Troy) Swier of Sioux Falls, Kathy (Bob) Bachofner of Vancouver, WA, Karen (Gary) Hurteau of Seattle, WA and 10 great-nieces and nephews, Shandra, Cody, Corbin, Kaylee, Kellie, Davis, Jared, Thomas, Kenton, Alyssa. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Irene and sister-in-law, Gracia Anderson.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10:30am at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with burial in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4pm on Tuesday with a 7:00pm prayer service at Skroch Funeral Chapel, Flandreau.
